Hammersmith wedding

A stunning bride walks down the stairs in her house in Hampton

The wedding of Liz and Robin was truly memorable. Liz prepared for her special day at her family home in Hampton, located in Richmond Upon Thames. The wedding ceremony took place at the picturesque All Saints Church in Hampton, and afterward, everyone gathered for the reception at the charming Old Ship in Hammersmith, situated on the beautiful banks of the River Thames. For years I lived in Shepherds Bush and would walk past the Old Ship every day during lockdown with my daughter, pushing her in her buggy. So to come back to Hammersmith for a day filled with people, hugs and laughter was a joyous and healing experience.

As a photographer, it was a joy to be a part of this intimate wedding. I had the opportunity to truly immerse myself in the wedding party and capture genuine, authentic moments. My style leans towards a documentary approach, where I focus on capturing natural and unscripted moments throughout the day.

Documentary photography allows me to tell a story through my images, capturing the true essence of the wedding. By being present and attentive, I am able to document the emotions, interactions, and little details that make each wedding unique. This approach ensures that the images are not posed or contrived but rather reflect the real moments and emotions as they naturally unfold.

The authenticity and reportage style of my photography aim to transport viewers back to the day itself, allowing them to relive the joy, happiness, and love that was present. Rather than staging moments or asking people to pose, I observe and capture the genuine emotions and interactions, creating a beautiful and timeless visual narrative of the day.

Weddings such as Liz and Robin's are particularly special to me as they provide the perfect opportunity to integrate with the wedding party and truly become a part of their day. Integrating into the wedding with family members and friends is an essential part of the day, which enables me not to stick out like a sore thumb at more intimate weddings! This allows for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, enabling me to capture those heartfelt and candid moments that truly encapsulate the essence of the celebration.

Couples Photography

I think my ability to integrate into the wedding party shows throughout the photos of the day, but especially in the couple shots of Liz and Robin. Liz and Robin initially contacted me saying as do many of my clients, that they don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera. As the wedding day progressed Liz and Robin became more and more relaxed in front of me until I was able to capture some really beautiful photos of the two of them along the Thames Path near The Old Ship. The photo above wasn’t posed, but just capturing a moment that happened between the two when we stopped for a second.

Unobtrusive Wedding Photography

Photographing weddings like Liz and Robin's is a privilege and a responsibility that I take seriously. Preserving the authenticity and beauty of the day in an unobtrusive and respectful manner is my goal. By blending into the background and being mindful of each moment, I am able to create a collection of images that tell the unique story of the wedding day, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
