Oxford Register Office Wedding Photography

Oxford really is a beautiful place to get married. I have lived in London now for 13 years and after photographing Emma and Phil's wedding in the centre of Oxford I came away a little jealous of the wonderful life that they have there. It's a beautiful city, everything is in walking distance pretty much and there is a lovely atmosphere.

The day started with Emma and her Bridesmaids getting ready at a townhouse about a 10-minute drive from Oxford Register Office. Sometimes this time of the day can be quite stressful as all those plans start to come together at the last minute, but there was absolutely no anxiety to be found here. Everyone was relaxed, smiling and happy with coffee and eggs to prepare for the day. Take a look at the photos, it really is smiling everywhere you look.

Next, it was on to Oxford Register Office right in the centre for the ceremony. Apart from Emma and Phil walking the wrong way to the aisle (still don't know how that happened) everything went smoothly with tears and laughter in equal measure. As anyone who knows my photography, I do love a photograph of a hug, and the one of Emma and her Mum hugging after the ceremony is one of my favourite of the year.

After the ceremony, it was a short walk around the corner to The Jam Factory. I met Emma and Phil here at our pre-wedding meeting a few months before the big day and it matched their personalities perfectly, fun and laid back.

You could argue that one of the downsides of having a city wedding is that the couple shots don't have those dramatic backdrops that you get in the countryside. Whilst the backdrops might not have been as epic, the couple shots I have from the day are a lovely reflection of Emma and Phil.

The rest of the day at the Jam Factory was drinks, food, speeches, dancing and a fantastic DJ from the Groom himself!

After receiving their photos, Emma and Phil left this review for me:

“Matthew's photographs are out of this world. Simply the best wedding photographs that myself, or any of my guests, have ever seen. Matthew was also a wonderful person to have around on the day. He is calm and good-humoured in addition to being a skilled photographer.”
