Wadhurst Castle Wedding Photography
Maddy and Nick
Wadhurst Castle is a breathtaking wedding venue nestled in the rolling East Sussex countryside. Maddy and Nick celebrated their wedding here in August 2017, and it was an incredible day to photograph from start to finish.
Wadhurst Castle Wedding
Maddy
As a 19th-century, Grade II listed building, Wadhurst Castle brings a true sense of grandeur to any wedding. Its elevated position offers sweeping views across the southern landscape — a perfect backdrop for timeless wedding photography.
Maddy and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready in a beautiful, south-facing room flooded with natural light. As a photographer, I couldn’t have asked for better conditions — that soft, natural light made for stunning bridal preparation shots. (There’s nothing worse than a beautiful bride in a dimly lit room!)
The ceremony took place in the castle’s enchanting walled garden — one of my favourite features of this venue. It offers the best of both worlds: the feeling of being outdoors, surrounded by nature, yet with an intimate sense of privacy and calm. It truly was a magical setting for their vows.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and garden games within the castle grounds. Between the panoramic southern views and the many secluded spots, there were endless opportunities for relaxed, natural couple portraits. The staff at Wadhurst Castle were also brilliant throughout, making the day run smoothly and adding to the warm atmosphere.
I absolutely loved photographing Maddy and Nick’s wedding at Wadhurst Castle — it’s a venue that offers beauty, light, and charm in every corner. Scroll down to see some of my favourite moments from the day, and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
