Bride and Groom walk outside Chiswick House as the sun sets

One of my favourite wedding venues in the whole entire world is Chiswick House and Gardens, so I am incredibly lucky to live only 5 minutes away in Shepherd's Bush (well, 15 minutes when you add the traffic in. Nowhere is actually 5 minutes away when you live in London). So when Caitriona and Aaron asked me to be their wedding photographer I was overjoyed. Not only was I blessed to photograph such a wonderful venue, but doubly blessed to photograph such a lovely couple. From the moment I met them for the pre-wedding meeting at Chiswick House to talk through the day, I knew that their day would be a special one, and I wasn't wrong! Combined with the truly fantastic staff at Chiswick House, and you really have one of the most enjoyable days I have been a part of (NB at this point in the blog, I am at risk at gushing so will rein it in for the next section)

Groom is overcome by emotion at seeing Bride in the ceremony room at Chiswick House

The day started off where most memorable days start, in the pub. Aaron, his Dad, and his Groomsmen went to The George in Chiswick and it was a really fun start to the day where I grabbed some nice relaxed and fun photos of the gents. Next, I was off to photograph the bridal prep which was only a short drive away. Caitriona was clearly relaxed before her big day and that is reflected in the photos which are full of smiles and joy rather than hand wringing and anxiety as can sometimes be the case!

The ceremony itself was held in Chiswick House, and although it may not be the most spacious venue in the world, it certainly is one of the most striking. I had such fun photographing this ceremony, as it was filled with lots of different traditions to reflect Aaron and Caitriona's Jewish and Scottish heritage, but there were so many wonderful wide-angle shots to get from the stunning interior of Chiswick House. With the ceremony done, the guests went across for drinks at the Conservatory, whilst the newlyweds and I grabbed some couple shots making the most out of the interior and exterior of Chiswick House and Gardens.

The day finished off with some of the best speeches I have ever heard in the marquee (including the best man and the MC performing a brilliant song they had written for Caitriona and Aaron) and some dance floor action.

After the day, Caitriona and Aaron were kind enough to leave me these words:

”We had the pleasure of having Matthew photograph our wedding in August 2019. We are SO glad we chose Matthew for our special day - the photographs have turned out absolutely amazingly and we can't put them down!

Matthew was an absolute pleasure to work with and his unobtrusive style has meant he's captured some wonderful un-posed pictures of both myself and the groom, as well as our family and friends. He managed to put us all at ease on the day, and was a seamless addition to the wedding party!

We would highly recommend Matthew to anyone and everyone looking for a talented photographer for their wedding!”
