Bride and Groom embrace outside Gildings Barn

Melissa and Ciaran are a genuinely lovely couple. Photographing their wedding was a real privilege. After the day itself they said these words about my photography on their special day:

“We decided to book Matthew as our photographer for our wedding last year, and what a brilliant decision it was! First and foremost Matt is a truly lovely bloke with a very relaxed demeanour, but effortlessly professional at the same time. We were put at ease from the moment we met up some weeks prior to our big day, simply to run through what was to come.

On the day itself Matt arrived at our home nice and early to take some pre-ceremony photos before then arriving at the church in plenty of time, and finally at the barn where our reception was being held. Many guests commented on how they barely knew Matt was even there; a testament to his experience as a wedding photographer no doubt!

We were contacted not long after the wedding to let us know the photos would soon be with us, and when they did arrive both my wife and I were nothing short of ecstatic with the finished article! We were genuinely taken aback by the brilliant work and still enjoy looking back at them despite having done so umpteen times already!

We cannot recommend Matt highly enough to anybody who may be thinking about which photographer to choose and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours :)”

Melissa and Ciaran were married at The Holy Family Church in Reigate. I met them here at our pre-wedding meeting to talk through the day, and it is a really lovely Church in the heart of Surrey. Outside the Church, on the day I was able to get some of my favourite documentary wedding photography done whilst moving in between all the friends and family meeting up, laughing and hugging. These moments are the bread and butter of my documentary style as it is capturing the moments of the wedding day as they happen, which otherwise would be forgotten years after the wedding day.

For the ceremony at The Holy Family Church in Reigate, both Melissa and Ciaran seemed nervous at the beginning of the ceremony. This is normal! I know I was on my own wedding day. Halfway through the ceremony, Ciaran made Melissa laugh by almost putting the ring on the wrong finger, and the tension was instantly broken and Melissa’s beautiful smile came out to join the party.

After the ceremony, everyone headed off to Gildings Barns in Newdigate, Surrey for drinks, speeches and dancing! Gildings Barns is an absolutely fantastic wedding venue located in the stunning Surrey countryside. It has a real rustic charm to it, and isolated as it is by the ancient woodland surrounding it the wedding guests could really let their hair down.

Some of the more traditional Irish dancing came on display at the end of the evening which was an absolute joy to photograph.

Congratulations to Melissa and Ciaran!
