Greenwich Tavern Wedding
Vashti and Dan are a wonderful, adventurous couple and their wedding was a reflection of these qualities. They were great fun to be around and it was a honour to be a part of their wedding day.
The day started at The Admiral Hardy pub where Vashti and her Bridesmaids were getting ready for the day. Bridal Prep in relatively small rooms like these is something I have specialised in over the years, and using short focal length prime lenses allows me to capture moments when there are about 10 people in a room meant for 2!
Greenwich Wedding
The Admiral Hardy is only a 5 minute walk from the venue of The Greenwich Tavern via the OId Royal Naval College, which is one of the most iconic London sights.
The ceremony room at the the Greenwich Tavern looks directly over the Thames, and the front of the room has huge windows which floods the front of the room with natural light. This drop off in light from the front of the room is perfect for the wedding ceremony as it allows the photos of the Bride and Groom to pop and adds natural contrast to the photos.
A Wedding next to the Thames
As the Greenwich Tavern is directly overlooking the Thames, this gave me many options as a photographer throughout the day. The vast majority of my photography is documentary, but when those “mantle piece” photographs were required, I was spoilt for choice.
The Old Royal Naval College is close by, which is a historic landmark designed by Sir Christoper Wren and has been used in many films as a location. It’s a photographer’s dream and is an ideal location for photographs of the Bride and Groom. Rather depressingly, this area isn’t a public space and is in private ownership. Whilst there is a public right of way through the grounds, taking professional photographs requires a license from The Old Royal Naval College. So if you are getting married there make sure you have contacted them beforehand!
Wedding Band
A brilliant wedding band can really put some energy into the later part of a wedding day, and Vashti and Dan picked an absolute corker with this band!! Unfortunately, I can’t find any trace of them online, but maybe as they were an 80’s covers band they were staying true to their roots and had no online presnce.
Vashti and Dan’s wedding was a perfect London wedding and I look back on it very fondly. They are a fantastic couple and wish them all the best.
