Rivervale Barn Wedding Photography

The first time I visited Rivervale Barn for the pre-wedding meeting with Jo and Mark, I was struck at how the entire building seemed custom-built for a wedding. Turns out, that was exactly the case! Most wedding venues are a collection of buildings that have been added to over time to enable them to be used for weddings, whilst Rivervale Barn clearly was built from the ground up to be a wedding venue. As I understand it, the owner of Rivervale Barn built it next to his house for his own daughter’s wedding, and it is now hired out to that purpose. The huge benefit of a space built specifically for weddings results in the day flowing incredibly well, with no lengthy waits for rooms to be turned around. I can say I really enjoyed photographing this wedding at Rivervale Barn!

As you may notice from this set of wedding photos, there are very few Bridal Prep shots. Jo didn't feel comfortable with Bridal Prep shots, and whilst I can understand her reservations, I really wish she had agreed to this as I find them a critical part of the day and the story that the photos from the day tell. Most Brides have a few reservations about Bridal Prep shots, but after 5 mins of me being there all those reservations are gone and the Brides are always delighted with the results!

The rest of the day was great to photograph, with a good blend of documentary photography (my pick of these being the shot of the doors being opened for the Bridesmaids), couple photography, and the more formal group shots.
