Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photographer

I have photographed at Chelsea Old Town Hall three times now and I am getting rather fond of it, there is a feel to it that makes it just seem special. Maybe it is the location, or the history of the venue, or the fact that the registrars there clearly take pride in the job they do. Whatever combination of factors it is, I always look forward to photographing here.

CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Holly and Adam got married here in June of 2017. Holly started the day at The Kensington in SW7, which is not a bad place to start the day! It was quite a relaxed start to the day so the collection of documentary Bridal Prep shots reflect this atmosphere nicely.

After the intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall, Holly and Adam had hired a private boat to take the wedding guests on a Thames River Cruise. I really can recommend this for a London wedding as it was a fantastic part of the day. Everyone got to see the sites essentially in a traveling bar. Great idea!!

After this Holly, Adam, and I took some time to nip across to Battersea Park and take some couple shots. I find it’s important to get a nice blend throughout the day of documentary and slightly more "formal" shots. Whilst throughout the day I spend most of my time in a documentary frame of mind, I do find it important to get a few of the couple shots whilst making sure the Bride & Groom feel relaxed so the photos feel natural and honest.

To finish the day, the wedding party finished the day at Tom Aikens (him from Great British Menu fame if you watch it every year like me) restaurant Toms Kitchen. Great food, great wine, great speeches, and great people!

Adam and Holly were kind enough to leave me these words:

“Matthew was the photographer at my Best Man's wedding so when it came to choosing a professional for our wedding in West London he was top of the list. Before and after the event he was polite, helpful and prompt. On the day he's able to effortlessly transition between being invisible, capturing natural moments in his "documentary style", to being the centre of attention and coordinating groups for the more formal shots (groups who had a glass or two of liquid distraction!). We had a couple of children at the wedding and despite him towering above them and carrying all his equipment they weren't intimated by his presence, even posing for some incredibly cute "say cheese" shots.

With modern digital cameras capturing the moment is only half the job. The post processing is essential to getting beautiful images. We saw other photographer's portfolios whose images looked "flat". Matthew's shots jump off the screen/page as I'm sure you've already seen. He's an expert in black and white and most of the framed images we have are monochromatic. You will not be disappointed...”
